Claudia Patchett, Creative Director of MajorElles

Claudia Patchett is related to the iconic Vogue cover model Jean Patchett. She was born with fashion in her blood and gained a first class degree from one of London’s finest design schools. After working in New York and Paris for several fashion magazines including Vogue, Harper’s & Queen and W, she set up her first atelier in a historic monastery in Provence.

Creative Director of the MajorElles brand since 2020, she works internationally, with her studios and tailors worldwide. In her early 20’s she met Malcolm McLaren and his close friend Jean Charles de Castelbajac. A true friendship was forged over the following years and Claudia’s creative journey developed under their influence. Originally from Casablanca, Castelbajac opened her eyes to the colour and vivacity of Marrakech where Claudia was particularly inspired by the sheer quality of Moroccan craftsmanship, the art of hand embroidery, the quality of the leather and and the abundance of textiles. Firsthand experience in pattern-making and leather tailoring over the following decade resulted in her first collection, which led to her own couture label MajorElles. Born from her desire to create luxury timeless pieces in the manner of the great Parisian couture houses of the past, the style of this latest collection was inspired by a bygone age when international travel was the domain of an élite few. Claudia’s designs reflect the past when detail and elegance went hand in hand with the comfort of perfect fit and professional quality of finish.

The latest catalogue echoes the theme of 1930’s luxury travel spanning thirteen destinations ranging from Venice to Bombay. At this time of colonialism British elegance was expected at all times, whether it be a voyage by steamtrain or a tour on safari. The vintage undertones are ever present in this unique collection, and the sheer attention to detail in each garment harks back to when traditional tailoring was meticulous. Our team of specialised leather and suede tailors have derived their skill and expertise from their forefathers, in fact many of their tools have been passed down from generation to generation.

It comes as no surprise that MajorElles’ core values are firmly anchored in sustainable fashion. The classic style not only transcends fleeting fashion trends, but each item is uniquely created on order, which not only ensures that any piece will be unique to you, but also avoids the issue of overstock.

A vast majority of the latest collection may be viewed at the El Fenn boutique store in Marrakech and purchased in any size online.
